10+1 dwellings that exude Mediterranean style

August is that month when life settles down before work and school begin again in September - at least in the northern hemisphere. For many people, especially those seeking a sunnier climate, the Mediterranean is an ideal destination. A place with a magical allure, "Mediterranean" is in many ways a synonym for slow living - the region's influence permeates architecture, design, lifestyle and culture. Twenty-one countries on three continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) border the Mediterranean. While each country has its own unique way of life, they share common characteristics that embody the spirit of the Mediterranean. Modern Mediterranean-style architecture often combines contemporary building design with a nod to traditional Mediterranea... もっと見る

Dino Maglie The project looks with a lot of attention the sorrounding city, made by abandoned spaces and buildings with a low quality. That's why the project's choise is the one of a not-dialog with the city, in order to get an architecture which discovers its-self in its inner spaces: a 12x12mt inner courtyard where all the spaces (living, kitchen, studio) can look. Envy house

Envy is located in Santa Ponça, a quiet holiday area in the southwest of Mallorca, located just 15 minutes from Palma. It is located in front of the marina of this town and at a distance of a few minutes on foot from the main bars, restaurants and beaches in the area. Tomeu Canyellas The house is inspired by the characteristic style of the architect Jaime Salvá, from Jaime Salvá Architecture & Interior Design firm, due to its horizontal structure and its architectural immersion in the natural landscape. The design draws particular attention to its exposed concrete exterior, an industrial material that unites its structural functionality with the aesthetics of the final finish. The architect Salvá had b... もっと見る

Mormaiquel house

Mormaiquel House, a rustic house located in Biniagual, a small town of about 15 houses and 20 inhabitants in the interior of Mallorca that has its origin in the Arab period. It is an isolated single-family home for a local couple and numerous animals on a 35,000m2 rustic plot surrounded by vineyards, with mountain views. Tomeu Canyellas The house is developed on a single ground floor, providing a horizontality to the house that is consistent with the size of the plot. All the rooms are directed to the best views and orientation, but not forgetting the connection with the rear, thus achieving cross ventilation, as well as views of all points of the plot. Tomeu Canyellas The style of the house is set by the strict regulations on... もっと見る

Casa modular en Menorca: tradición y modernidad

Casas inHAUS / Shot Menorca Casas inHAUS offers an example of the fusion of tradition and modernity in a modular home in Menorca. Typical Balearic construction and design and the modern innovation of industrialisation come together in this villa, which is derived from the inHAUS Benidorm model. With modifications such as white monolayer façade finishes, this villa blends into the natural landscape and architecture of the island. Casas inHAUS / Shot Menorca Light and shadows play on the facades in different planes. The pure lines of the design and the apparent simplicity of the forms create an atmosphere of calm and tranquillity. The native vegetation of the garden surrounds the terrace and the swimming pool. Casas Cartama

We started this assignment in order to give a new life to a real estate development that has been stagnant since 2004. Therefore, we have to adapt to an already executed concrete structure and design a new distribution, not only inside, generating more open spaces and diaphanous, but silvering a new way of life in the houses. Juanan Barros Juanan Barros Juanan Barros Juanan Barros We suppressed the external stairs of the plot to center the entrance to the house through the garage, making it more accessible and direct from the outside, and thus leaving the ground floor more flexible to relocate all the rooms and propose new façade openings that allow us to enjoy the wonderful views that this natural environment of... もっと見る

Nature and transparency form a harmonic balance that characterize House in Begur

Surrounded by nature and with a broad view over Catalonia's Costa Brava landscape, Garcés de Seta Bonet architecture studio developed this large patio house (420 m2). Inspired by traditional Roman dwellings, the design concept features a living area around a central space and an exterior nature expressed in a more domesticated way. Adrià Goula The house's exterior recalls a concrete prism or compact piece of artificial stone. Upon entering the house, this perception changes completely, with the walls seeming to break away and any feeling of a monolith vanishing as transparencies between indoor spaces and progression between rooms through to the patio. "When you go inside, the image of nature is reflected everywhere, br... もっと見る

Yoma Suites

Yoma is a complex of cave suites in the island of Zakynthos. In a steep, narrow piece of land, of west orientation, the complex of 10 private suites, are placed along the inclination to maximize privacy, view openness, and outdoor area for each suite. The intention to merge the buildings into the landscape led the composition to be developed on four levels: the reception area of the complex is located at the higher one, at the entrance of the plot, while at the other three the suites are developed. A prismatic plan layout was developed to maximize the length of the facade to the view, and minimize the width of the back of the rooms that house the wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Those prisms are attached and continuous, yet complet... もっと見る

Baleares by OOAA Arquitectura embraces the spirit of Mediterranean architecture

Located in Menorca, Balearic Islands, this summer home for a large family was designed by OOAA Arquitectura to respond to the particular nature of the site’s orientation and the challenges it presented. Rafael Diéguez The existing site is blessed with panoramic ocean views to the North, while the southern side opens to street and is exposed to overlooking views from the surrounding neighbourhood. Rafael Diéguez As such, OOAA developed a scheme centralized around a large central beam that allows optimal light into the interior spaces while still conditioning and sheltering the house from surrounding neighbourhood views. Though appearing blind to the street, the house is bright and luminous inside. Rafael Di... もっと見る

Casa Puri

The Project deals with the reform of an apartment, located in the Center of the Andalusian city of Seville. The project of this house wants to transform the classic and divided distribution characteristic of houses in city centers, into a large continuous and flexible space. The living room and the kitchen become the same room, which is invaded by the light from the street, which enters through four large windows. Old and unnecessary elements such as false ceilings are eliminated, thus achieving greater width and height in the rooms of the house. Apart from the architecture that surrounds the house, and the organization of the spaces, we also intervene in the interior design of the furniture. These are integrated with the warmth of the... もっと見る

Claudia House

Benimaclet was an orchard village that was absorbed by the city of Valencia in the second half of the last century. In this village houses coexist with small-scale multi-family buildings, as is the case here: a three-storey building, made up of 6 dwellings, which, on the ground floor and through a central access, gives access in the block courtyard to two-storey constructions belonging to each of the dwellings in the building. The intervention that we present consists of the reconstruction of one of these buildings, belonging to one of the dwellings on the ground floor, and its connection with it. The low construction quality and the habitability problems of this building advised its demolition and volumetric reconstruction.   O... もっと見る
